The Myocutaneous flap is a unit of skin and muscle that transferred by means of a dominant vascular pedicle to a nearby defect.
Recently, considerable attention has been directed towards the use of the Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous flap as a reliable one, either as a pedicle flap or as a free flap. However, little or no attention has been made of using it as a rotated island flap intothe arm and axillary portion. The Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous flap is a very safe and long flap.
Humerus exposure and axillary contracture is a rare acquired condition with burn. We have found that the Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous flap can reach well into the elbow joint. We obtained a good result by using Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous flap for reconstruction of humerus exposure and axillary contracture with burn.
